Seven people were hospitalized after a bus and a passenger vehicle collided in Edgartown.

Edgartown Police say that at approximately 11 a.m. Tuesday rescue personnel were dispatched to the triangle intersection (Beach Rd. and Edgartown/Vineyard Haven Rd.) for an accident involving a passenger vehicle and a VTA transit bus.

Both vehicles were heading inbound toward Upper Main St. when the passenger vehicle stopped at the stop sign at Edgartown/Vineyard Haven Rd.

It has since been determined that the passenger vehicle then tried to make a U-turn on Beach Rd., cutting in front of the bus which was unable to stop.

The injured passengers were taken to Martha's Vineyard Hospital for what police say appear to be minor injuries.

Mark Allen Anderson, 59, of Fargo, N.D. , identified by police as the driver of the passenger vehicle, was determined to be at fault and cited for failure to yield at the intersection.
