DARTMOUTH — A serious motor vehicle crash occurred on Route 6 in Dartmouth Thursday night.

Dartmouth Week is reporting that fire crews from District 3 responsed to the crash on the westbound side of Route 6 near Buster's Sports Bar at around 8:45 p.m. Thursday, and spent close to a half hour extricating the single occupant of the vehicle that had been trapped inside. The vehicle's occupant was then medflighted to a nearby hospital.

Route 6 was closed to traffic on the westbound side from Slocum Road to Hathaway Road until 10:15 p.m.

WJAR-TV is reporting that the owner of the car told police the man who was driving wasn't allowed to operate the car, and that his injuries do not appear to be life threatening.
