Twelve years ago the United States of America was attacked.  The country was in shock for weeks after terrorists hijacked airplanes and crashed them into the World Trade Center in New York, hit the Pentagon and crashed in Pennsylvania.  I remember the feeling of helplessness, not being able to do anything about what had happened and the shock that our country was attacked on our own doorstep.  I think of the many lives that were lost in those attacks and how many family's lives were changed forever.  When I think back on the day I remember the eeriness of not knowing if another attack was going to happen, there were reports that Boston may be a target, a city that I was working in at the time.  My co-workers were worried about their family and friends, I remember the look on everyone's face when we watched the second plane crash into tower two and then when the buildings collapsed, an image that I will never let out of my mind.

I also remember the way the country pulled together and helped one another get through the events of that day.  I remember friends and co-workers driving to New York city to help in any way they could. I remember how we learned a lesson from that day, that we must always keep our guard up.

September 11, 2001 a day I will never forget.
