U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren is spending part of the August congressional recess making stops around the Commonwealth.

The Senator was in New Bedford on Thursday, visiting the UMass Dartmouth School of Marine Science and Technology.

Warren spoke with a group of graduate students about their studies, and met with marine scientists working on fishing issues, the impact of wind on the oceans, and the future of tidal power.

Senator Warren says she'll continue to seek federal funding to support research being done at SMAST.

And she added, the Massachusetts Congressional delegation continues to work on securing federal disaster aid for the fishing industry.  The Senate has approved $150 million to assist fishermen struggling with reduced catch allocations.  The House however, has yet to take action.
