Governor Patrick has signed legislation naming a section of Route 6 leading to the New Bedford-Fairhaven Bridge after the late Roland Hebert, the former Deputy Director of the Southeastern Regional Planning and Economic Development District. The bill was co-sponosred by Senator Mark Montigny, and Rep. Antonio Cabral. Hebert died suddenly in February, 2011. Hebert was a New Bedford native who worked in the city's Planning Dept., and then for SERPEDD. Cabral says Hebert was involved in every major transporation project in the region over the past 30 years.

Cabral says Hebert was dedicated to improving New Bedford and other communities in the region. Cabral is hoping to arrange a formal ceremony honoring Hebert in the next few weeks.
