The Seastreak ferry line has restored service between New Bedford and Nantucket. The newly established line began service this week.

Seastreak Operations Manager John Silvia tells WBSM News the service has been well-received. "People are very excited about skipping the Cape traffic and bypassing the Cape altogether," said Silvia. "I think everybody's just really excited to be rehatching this service that has been out of service for many, many years."

Seastreak is holding a celebration this weekend to mark the new line. The company is hosting a dockside barbecue on Sunday, May 22 from 3-5pm on the State Pier with free burgers, hot dogs, and soda, and free entertainment.
