The Whaling City Seafood Display Auction isn't closing.

Owner Richard Canastra says some people came to that conclusion after reading some recent media reports.

However, Canastra told WBSM's Phil Paleologos that while there may not be fish on certain days, the auction will still be open.

"We are not going out of business, we are not closed," said Canastra "my point was that there are going to be days that there would be no fish being landed because of regulations."

Canastra says that on the days when there is no fish other functions will still be carried out.

"We will still be servicing the vessels that are fishing," said Canastra.

Canastra says that government regulations are the reason that catches will not be landed on certain days.
