New Bedford High School Headmaster Kathleen Dawson told the School Committee Monday night, the opening of the high school was okay, but not as smooth as she had hoped.

Many students didn't receive their schedules till the first day of school, and some of those schedules were wrong. Dawson says however, the guidance team was able to pull through and get many of those schedules back on track.

Supt. Dr. Pia Durkin says scheduling is important, but its the staff at the high school that face the biggest challenge.....

New Bedford High School was declared a level four or "underperforming" school by the State last year.

Headmaster Dawson said teachers returning to the high school have shown strong support for new initiatives and programs, and students have noticed the teamwork.
