Classes are cancelled at the University of California, Santa Barbara today as the college community reels from the deadly rampage that took the lives of six students.

UC Santa Barbara has declared a day of mourning and reflection and a memorial service is scheduled on campus.

University of California President Janet Napolitano says flags at all 10 UC campuses will be lowered to half-staff to honor victims' memories. In a letter to the UC community, Napolitano says this is a time for consoling and supporting each other, and that the healing process will take time.

Authorities say a 22-year old man carried out his attacks Friday night in the Isla Vista community after posting an internet video saying he intended to slaughter as many people as he could. After the rampage, he was found dead in an apparent suicide.
