New Bedford's Samantha Johnson, who tried out for American Idol a couple of times in the past before capturing the heart of America, will be starring in New Bedford Festival Theatre's summer production of Grease, July 22-24 and July 28-31. Playing the character of "bad girl" Betty Rizzo, who Stockyard Channing portrayed in the film version, Samantha brings her tremendous talents to the summer stage.

Samantha Johnson is proud to have attended Normandin Middle School and New Bedford High School. So much so, after graduation, Samantha returned to Normandin where she was  the Drama Club director.

Just recently, Samantha was honored at the When You Wish Upon A Star Gala. Tickets for Grease are available at 508-994-2900 or at the Zeiterion Box Office. They range from $40 to $55. Local auditions for Grease will be held on February 21, 2016.
