It's always a playoff-like atmosphere when the Knicks and Celtics meet up, and Monday night's game was no different. Despite being without Rajon Rondo, who was suspended for the game for bumping an official, the Boston Celtics were able to hang in with the first place Knicks. Most of that was thanks to the leadership of Paul Pierce.

Pierce had 23 points on the night. Kevin Garnett would add 19 in the win. New York was led by JR Smith, who had 24 points. Carmelo Anthony had 20 points on the night. The big break for Boston came in the third quarter when they outscored the Knicks 23-16.

Boston improves to .500 at 17-17. They are off Tuesday, before returning home Wednesday to face the Phoenix Suns.
