ROCHESTER — A teacher has been arrested for alleged inappropriate physical contact with students.

On May 3, the Rochester Police Department was asked to respond to the Rochester Memorial School. Administrators at the school notified officers of allegations that had been made by students. The allegations were that a teacher in the school had inappropriate physical contact with students.

As a result of their investigation, Rochester Police sought and obtained an arrest warrant on the afternoon of Friday, May 4. The warrant charges James Sullivan, 35, of Fairhaven, with one count of assault and battery and one count of indecent assault and battery of a child under 14.

Sullivan turned himself in to police on Saturday and was arrested. He was released on $10,000 cash bail, and scheduled for arraignment this morning in Wareham District Court.
