Robbery Suspect Arrested In New Bedford

A New Bedford man faces robbery charges.  Thirty-five year old Timothy Martin of Truro Street was arrested early Friday on Acushnet Avenue.

Det. Capt. Steve Vicente  says Martin is charged with a robbery at the 7-11 Store on the Avenue around 4am, and an attempted robbery two hours later at Honey Dew Donuts on Coggeshall Street.  Vicente says the suspect was positively identified by clerks at both locations.

When he was picked up, police say Martin was carrying a pocketknife, but surrendered without incident.

He faces charges of unarmed robbery and armed assault with intent to rob at his arraignment in New Bedford District Court.
