New Bedford Police say they've solved two recent armed robberies with an arrest over the weekend.

Two South End Police officers were conducting a routine patrol Saturday when they spotted 19 year old Elijah Sanford of Woodlawn Street who had previously been identified as a possible suspect.

According to Public Information officer Lt. Amos Melo, Sanford fled to an apartment at 799 South First Street where he was arrested without incident.

Police they secured a search warrant and found a khaki jacket and a b-b gun believed used in two robberies this month: one at Ro-Art Liquors on November 18th and the second at Cidades Sunoco on the 22nd.

Lt. Melo says the b-b gun resembled a semi-automatic handgun. Sanford was charged with two counts of armed robbery and will appear in District Court later today.
