A male patron at a convenience store at Route Six and Reed Road in Dartmouth was assaulted and robbed Friday night.

Dartmouth Police say officers responded a call of an armed robbery at the Shell station on Route Six and found a male customer had been beaten by a robber armed with a firearm and had his money stolen. He was transported by ambulance to St. Luke's Hospital

The suspect was described as a heavyset black male, about 5-9, wearing jeans and a dark hoodie.

According to the Police department's Facebook page, police searched the area with dogs, but found nothing. Police continue to investigate.
