Robbers Steal $50 Million in Diamonds at Belgian Airport
According to CNN, some masked thieves breached the security gate at a Brussels airport and stole $50 million in diamonds.
Officials say that the eight masked thieves breached the security gate once the diamonds, from the Antwerp World Diamond Centre, were on board a plane and ready for transportation. The diamonds were on their way to Zurich, Switzerland according to a spokesman.
The robbers used two vehicles, and robbed the cargo hold of the plane in just minutes. They said that they were heavily armed but no shots were fired. Officials say that is was a very precise 'military organized' plan. The airport regularly has around $200 million in diamonds being transported daily, and this comes a surprise for the airport which has an outstanding security reputation.
