The New Bedford branch of the Registry of Motor Vehicles re-opened on Wednesday after its closure on Tuesday.

The branch, located at 278 Union St. was evacuated twice before closing down due to a persistent smoky odor.

The source of the foul odor was tracked to a malfunctioning HVAC System on the building's roof.

A technician was called to make the necessary repairs.

A representative for the RMV told WBSM News on Wednesday that the branch was open for business.
