A fatal car crash in Seekonk is under investigation by State Police assigned to the District Attorney's office and Seekonk Police.

According to Police Chief Craig Mace, police attempted to stop a car on Fall River Avenue Friday night for a traffic violation, but the operator ignored flashing lights and a siren and drove off.

Minutes later, the car crashed into a utility pole on Arcade Avenue.

Seekonk Fire and rescue personnel extricated the operator from the car and he was transported to Rhode Island Hospital where he later died.

Police say the driver was a 29 year old Pawtucket, Rhode Island man. His name will not be released till next of kin is notified.
