Reward Offered For Capture And Conviction Of Westport Art Thief

Westport Police are investigating an apparent art theft that occurred in the town last week.

The theft was reported at Marguerite's Restaurant on Main Road Friday morning, after the staff there noticed eleven "Sailors Valentines" that were on display had disappeared. The Sailors Valentines are patterned mosaics made up of hundreds of tiny shells, with the collection valued at over $15,000.

The Sailors Valentines were created by local artist Barbara Chadwick, whose family is offering up to $5,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the suspect(s).
