"Robo-calls" are apparently to blame for the latest in a series of scams in the Greater New Bedford area.

Dozens of residents report receiving phone calls over the weekend, where a recorded message would claim to be a local bank representative saying there was a problem with the customer's debit card.

Bristol County Savings Bank President Patrick Murray tells WBSM News it's easy to be deceived by this tactic.

Police and banks advise recepients of these calls to never provide any account information to any caller or via e-mail and contact police or your financial institution about these calls.
