Representative Cabral Meets With Bishop Coleman

State Representative Antonio Cabral has stepped in to help St. John the Baptist Church in New Bedford from closing next month.  Cabral met with Bishop George Coleman Tuesday for 90 minutes and asked the Bishop to delay the proposed closing for one year and give parishopners clearly defined benchmarks related to membership, new registration and capital fundraising. The Representative also discussed the risks of shuttering the church would pose to the surrounding neighborhood. So far there's been no response from the Diocese on the meeting.
