Reported Thief Steals Cash, Invades New Bedford Home

New Bedford Police are investigating a robbery and a related home invasion.

Police say a witness saw a man steal cash from the counter at the Dipper Cafe at 1367 Purchase Street early Thursday afternoon.

The witness chased the suspect on Purchase Street, with the suspect running into a nearby home. The suspect frightened a female resident, who yelled at him to leave the house. The man hesitated before leaving, but remained near the back gate for a few minutes.
