New England Patriots have connected on a deal with the Cleveland Browns that would send former first round draft pick Barkevious Mingo to New England.

who was selected by the Browns with the sixth overall pick in the 2013 draft out of LSU, never fully panned out in the Cleveland defense. After a disappointing season in 2015,
which saw him compile his worst stats in his three-year career, the Browns decided to not pick up his fifth-year option, thus making him a free agent after the 2016 campaign.

Mingo will likely fit into an already deep group of edge rushers in the Patriots' system and could provide solid depth, with both Ninkovich and Sheard slowed due to injuries as of late.

Along with the two banged up starters and newly acquired Mingo are former first round picks Chris Long and Shea McClellin, Trey Flowers, Geneo Grissom and Rufus Johnson.

It's a possibility that the Pats believe that Mingo could help not only along the line but also in a typical linebacker role, as he has experience with both positions.

In any event it looks to be another buy low on a once highly sought after player, who fell out of favor in his previous home. It could be that he finds his way in New England.
