released running back Tyler Gaffney, Thursday. While the move may not have seemed like a big deal initially, a report from Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald has shed more light on the significance of the decision.

According to Howe, and now multiple other reports, Patriots running back Dion Lewis, who was lighting it up on the field last season prior to tearing his ACL, could be ready to go for this week's SUnday night showdown against the Seattle Seahawks.

Adding Lewis into the backfield rotation will not only add a wrinkle of shiftiness and speed but it will also help scale back some of the career-high work load power back LeGarrette Blount has been carrying so far this season.
