It appears the New England Patriots have nabbed themselves another big name along the defensive line.

According to ESPN's Dianna Marie Russini, the eighth year vet has informed the Patriots that he has decided to join them, though contract information has not been brought to light just yet.

Though Washington had been in the running to re-sign the 30-year-old, after he put together a solid campaign for the Redskins last year, it appears New England presented a better option for the defensive tackle.

In 108 career games, Knighton has made 230 tackles and 14 sacks. He has also been credited with three forced fumbles and 27 run stuffs.
