One of the New York prison escapees claims he staged a test run before actually breaking out of the Clinton Correctional Facility on June 6th.

David Sweat told investigators he made a dry run the night before he and Richard Matt made their elaborate escape from the prison in Dannemora.

The convicted killers also reportedly had several close calls with police during the three-week manhunt before Matt was shot and killed on Friday. Sweat was wounded and taken into custody near the Canadian border on Sunday.

Meantime, a dozen prison workers are being replaced in a sweeping probe following this month's double manhunt in New York.

The state Department of Corrections announced on Tueday three members of the executive team and nine security staff employees at Clinton Correctional Facility are on administrative leave.

Two other prison employees face charges for helping Richard Matt and David Sweat escape. {Metro Networks Inc.)
