State Representative Robert Koczera is among the latest of politicians to take a stand with Governor Deval Patrick, calling for a disaster declaration for the state's fishermen.

The declaration by the U.S. Commerce Department would provide financially strapped fishermen with federal aid to continue their work. Koczera tells WBSM News if it works for other industries, why not fishing?

The National Marine Fisheries Service is forecasting a 43-73% percent cut in groundfish allocations for next year. Governor Patrick wants to see $21 million in aid provided to fishermen.
