U.S. Rep. William Keating says the House has approved a measure to encourage stronger intelligence sharing between federal, state and local law enforcement agencies.

The Massachusetts democrat says the amendment was added on Friday to an Intelligence Authorization bill. Keating says he proposed the amendment after the April 2013 Boston Marathon bombing that killed three people and injured 260 others.

Keating tells WBSM News his proposal would require the FBI and others to report back to Congress on how to strengthen those links.

He said the arrest Friday of a man on charges of obstructing the probe of the bombing further points to the importance of cooperation between law enforcement agencies.
