State Rep. Patricia Haddad of Somerset is hoping for quick action on a much talked about energy bill on Beacon Hill.

Haddad says the bill would clear the way for more hydro, solar and offshore wind development in Massachusetts.

With the closing of the Brayton Point Power Station in 2017, and the Pilgrim Nuclear Power Plant two years later, Haddad tells WBSM's Barry Richard, Southeastern Mass. will need more energy.

"We don't have a lot of choices. I mean, I would call it stupid if we don't get it done this session. You can't underestimate how important it is that action be taken on the energy bill," said Haddad.

The Somerset Democrat expects the energy bill will come up in the house after the budget debate this spring.
