A Federal jury in Boston has convicted a Rehoboth woman of illegally receiving more than $29,000 in Social Security benefits.

Forty-four year old Joanna Boyer was convicted on one count of Social Security fraud, two counts of making false statements, and one count of theft of public money.

The U-S Attorney's office says Boyer claimed she had limited financial means and collected more than $29,000 in S-S-I benefits from 2010 to 2015.

Prosecutors learned however that she owned a condo in Fall River in addition to her house in Rehoboth. On two occasions when asked by Social Security personnel, Boyer denied owning any real estate other than her home.

The guilty verdict was returned Wednesday following a three-day jury trial.  U-S District Court Judge Denise Casper scheduled sentencing for March 8th, 2017.
