Red Sox Win Big in SF- WBSM Thursday Sports (AUDIO)

Will Middlebrooks hit a 2-run homer and Stephen Drew added a 3-run shot as the Red Sox beat the Giants 12 to 1. Felix Doubront pitched 8 innings. Boston moved a game ahead of Tampa Bay for first place in the AL East. The Rays lost to Baltimore 4 to 2.

The Red Sox are off tonight. They open a weekend series with the Dodgers in LA starting tomorrrow night.

David Ortiz is dealing with tightness in his lower back. He came out of yesterday's game in the 5th inning. Manager John Farrell says it's just general soreness.

The Patriots are in Detroit to play the Lions tonight. This figures to be the most playing time the starters will see before the regular season begins.
