We made it back safe and sound from Spring Training in Fort Myers Florida!  That's a good thing, this year's Red Sox look to be a pretty good team!  The AL East is wide open, we spoke to David Ortiz and even he thinks that any team in the east has a chance to win.  By the way Big Papi is very excited to be back in camp and can't wait to start knocking balls out of the park!  Our trip was pretty good, if you are planning a trip to see the Sox for a spring training game or two and enjoy some sunny weather, I'm not going to say hot weather it only hit the mid 60's while we were there, but if you are planning a trip and have never been, it is an easy trip to do.  Pete and I flew out of Providence stopped in Charlotte and landed in Fort Myers, once you get to Fort Myers grab a rental car and in less than ten minutes you can be at Jet Blue Park to see a game.  Jet Blue Park is brand new and is state of the art, although some say it doesn't look like a ball park from the outside.  Inside the park the field is the exact same dimension as Fenway Park, this makes it easier for the home team players to get a feel for Fenway and all of its quirks.  Staying in Fort Myers is pretty easy too, there a hundreds of hotel's available and thousands of restaurants, no matter what you like, from the basic to the gourmet they have it.  On an off day you might take a trip to the beach, it's not that far from Jet Blue Park or you might stop in at one of the other Spring Training facilities in the area, the Minnesota Twins complex is about five miles from Jet Blue Park.  One thing I enjoyed on our trip was how many people from our area work at the park and love to tell stories about the players and talk about what life is like in the Fort Myers area.  If a trip for you is not in the cards this year, maybe plan one next year, you will love it!
