A legendary and beloved figure of Red Sox nation has passed. The man who's name will forever be synonymous with the right field foul pole, Johnny Pesky, is gone. He was 92 years old. Johnny Pesky gave more than half a century to the sport of baseball. A 60 year career as a player, manager and broadcaster came to an end when he passed away on Monday.

The national pastime has lost one of its greatest ambassadors.

Pesky will forever be remembered at Fenway as one of the great Boston players. His name will live on forever in the outfield, where the foul pole is named after him. In 2006, a plaque was put at the base of the pole, forever cementing his legacy in Red Sox history.
