Freetown Police have received a three year accreditation and certification award from the Mass. Police Accreditation Conference. The organization met this week in Dover, Mass.

Freetown Police Chief Carlton Abbott says his department is one of only 70 law enforcement agencies in the commonwealth which has received accreditation awards.

The MPAC says the award recognizes police departments for their professional service.

Chief Abbott says the award is a significant accomplishment and a recognition highly regarded by the law enforcement community.

The Freetown Police Department received its first accreditation in 2014.
