Ward 4 City Councilor Dana Rebeiro is running for re-election in a very crowded race that features three candidates who have already held the office and one political newcomer.

When asked what made her different from her preliminary opponents Rebeiro told WBSM's Brian Thomas it was her accessibility to the residents of Ward 4.

"I'm the candidate that you have my cell phone, I'm the candidate that when you have a problem I go to meet you, I am the candidate that will not let a piece of paper or a lack of votes stop me from helping people," said Rebeiro.

During the Wednesday morning interview Rebeiro also touted her bi-partisanship.

Rebeiro said that while she is a Democrat, who has campaigned hard for fellow Democratic party office seekers, including Martha Coakley in her race for Governor that didn't stopped her from reaching out to and working with people Coakley's opponent, and now current governor, Charlie Baker.

"I worked very hard for Martha Coakley to win," said Rebeiro "but when she didn't win I was the person that invited Charlie Baker down, he came to visit Ward 4 first, he got a tour of Carney Academy from two very brilliant students, then we went to Boa Vista and he met some people there, and I still have a very good relationship with him."

The Preliminary Election is October 6 where Rebeiro will face off against former Ward 4 City Councillors Joseph "JoJo" Fortes, Bruce Duarte Jr., and Ramona Silva, along with New Bedford police officer Joshua Fernandes.
