Notable Southcoast community members are gathering at the Carney Academy school in New Bedford tomorrow morning to get children excited about reading. More than thirty people are volunteering their time to read to third, fourth, and fifth graders as part of the 22nd annual Salute to Reading is FUNdamental “Read Aloud” program in New Bedford.

Creator and chairperson Joanne Byron tells WBSM News the children can be highly influenced by the volunteers.
