It's been 20 years since Ramona Silva first ran for the Ward Four City Council seat in New Bedford, and she's running again.

Silva held the seat for one term in 1995, and says her passion for the City and for her ward encouraged her to run again. Speaking on "The Taylor Cormier Show," Silva says she views the role of a city councillor as a nurturer. "I understand that the job of government is to create an environment where businesses and jobs prosper and grow. And to create a climate where the residents are confident that their elected officials are acting in their best interests," said Silva.

Silva believes her time as a councillor makes her a qualified candidate.

Silva faces former Ward Four councillors Bruce Duarte, Jr. and Joseph "Jo-Jo" Fortes, as well as incumbent Dana Rebeiro, and police officer Joshua Fernandes for the Ward Four seat. The preliminary election, which will narrow that field down to two candidates, takes place October 6.
