Quinnipiac men's basketball coach Tom Moore has signed a five-year contract extension, despite coming off the team's first losing season since 2009.

Terms of the deal, which runs through the 2017-18 season, were not disclosed Thursday.

Moore is a former assistant under Jim Calhoun at Connecticut. He has compiled a 108-81 record since taking over at Quinnipiac in 2007. The Bobcats finished 15-16 last season, missing the postseason for the first time in four years.

The school is moving from the Northeast Athletic Conference to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference for the upcoming season, and Moore says he's "inspired and energized" by the school's commitment to him as the team makes that transition.
