The New Bedford City Council is taking up an interesting motion at tonight's 7pm meeting. Ward Five Councilor Jane Gonsalves is proposing the city install public pianos throughout the area.

The idea is modeled after a program taken up in Boston, where pianos are painted and placed in public areas, like parks and street corners, for the average passerby to enjoy.

So how about it? How would you like to be walking through any one of our city's fine parks, or through Custom House Square Park downtown, and hearing one of your favorite tunes being plunked out on the ivories?
