Prosecutors say a 70-year-old Massachusetts man killed another 70 year old man after learning the victim had a romantic relationship with his late girlfriend.

John Wittey, of Berkley, was arrested Friday and charged in connection with the death of John Williams in his Wareham home Tuesday. Williams was found stabbed once and shot ten times.

Plymouth Assistant District Attorney Joseph Janezic said Wittey apparently became enraged upon learning his long-term girlfriend, who died last month, had been romantically involved with Williams at some point.

Wittey pleaded not guilty at his arraignment and is being held without bail. He's due back in court next month.

Wittey's court-appointed lawyer didn't immediately comment.

Neighbors described Williams an amateur pilot, ham radio operator and motorcycle enthusiast who worked at a local Salvation Army Thrift Store.
