Proper Installation Of Kid’s Car Seats
As most of the listeners are aware, my wife and I are expecting our second child any day now. Our eldest is already 3 and a half and I’ll never forget how nervous we were bringing him home from the hospital.
Prior to bringing our baby boy home, we had taken the parenting classes offered by Southcoast Health Systems and they covered everything from changing diapers, to what to expect during labor and of course proper installation and use of car seats.
Some quick facts that parents or parents to be may not be aware of when it comes to car seats:
- Car seats can expire
- A child should be rear-facing until they reach 2 years of age or the weight suggested on the car seat
- Check the label and know the weight limits on your car seat..
- Make sure it is installed properly. Click here to see video of proper installation of car seats.
You can also call your local fire department as most will have a technician on hand that can help you properly install the seat and have you ready for that first ride home with a new baby!
