During the final round of a surfing event in South Africa, Mick Fanning was attacked by a shark. And the whole thing was caught on live television! Fanning was competing in Jeffreys Bay on Sunday when the shark approached the board.

"I was just about to start paddling again and all of a sudden I had this instinct that something was behind me," Fanning told Australian news agency News.com.

"I felt like it was dragging me under water and then my leg rope broke so I started swimming and screaming ... I just can’t believe it," he said.

Competition officials came to Fanning's aid on a jet ski. The event was suspended due to the incident.
