A power outage that, at its peak, left an estimated 700 customers in the dark is believed to have been caused by the failure of an underground cable.

Eversource spokeswoman Rhiannon D’Angelo says the power outage was first reported on Sunday around 11:15 p.m. in the Purchase St. area.

D'Angelo says the majority of customers had power restored by 5 a.m. and most of the remaining outages were resolved by 9:20 a.m.
