Pope Francis is formally approving the use of exorcism by the Catholic church.  The Vatican's newspaper reported that recognition has been given to the International Association of Exorcists.

Father Francesco Bamonte told "L'Osservatore Romano"  the Holy See's decision to recognize them is a joy.  He hopes more priests will agree exorcism helps people who are suffering.

The church only allows exorcisms if doctors say someone's medical or psychological issues can't be treated through non-religious means and a priest gets consent from his bishop. (Metro Networks Inc.)
