New Bedford Police have removed 58 grams of heroin from the street after a drug raid in the city over the weekend.

Police say they executed a search warrant at 395 North Front Street, Apt. 3, Friday evening after an investigation into suspected drug-related activity involving 32-year-old Adawilda Costoso. Costoso was taken into custody as she arrived home.

During the search, police recovered the heroin, along with over $1,000. Costoso's 17-year-old son was in the apartment at the time, and also found to be in possession of heroin. The investigation revealed the woman was using her son to facilitate her drug operation. The Department of Child and Family Services has opened up an investigation.

Costoso was arraigned Monday in New Bedford District Court on charges of trafficking heroin, possession with intent to distribute heroin, and inducing a minor to distribute heroin.
