A shooting victim is reported to be in good condition at Rhode Island Hospital following an altercation with a group Monday afternoon.

Det. Capt. Steven Vicente says the victim, identified only as a man in his 40's, was walking his scooter near Tinkham St. and Acushnet Ave. when he was confronted by a group.

A dispute erupted involving the scooter and several shots were fired.

A round went into the victim's right arm and another round grazed his chest.

There was also a nearby building which was struck by a bullet.

Vicente says the victim, who claims to be a homeless man from Boston, is not cooperating with the investigation.

Detectives believe he is lying about his name and his true identity has not yet been determined.

Vicente also says there are no suspects in custody at this time.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Det. William Sauve at 508-991-6300 ext. 130 or leave an anonymous tip at 508-961-4584.
