Police Investigate North End Shooting

New Bedford Police are investigating a weekend shooting in the city's North End.

Det. Capt. Steven Vicente says the shooting happened just after 4am on Sunday in the vicinity of Belleville Avenue and Sylvia Street.

Police say the victim was getting out of his car when a man approached  the vehicle and opened fire.  The victim was struck in the left rear calf and thigh area, and drove himself to St. Lukes Hospital for treatment.
