Police Investigate Assault on Prostitute in New Bedford’s South End
A woman is being treated for minor injuries after she told police she was assaulted by a man with a firearm early this morning.
New Bedford Police tell WBSM News the woman, known to police as a prostitute, flagged patrol officers down before 2am Monday morning in the area of Rivet and Bolton Streets in the South End. She told police that a man had approached her and hit her in the head with what she believed was a handgun.
The woman was transported to St. Luke's Hospital to be treated for her injury. She could not provide police with a description of her attacker.
The incident is under investigation.
