NEW BEDFORD - A New Bedford man is arrested for driving drunk during yesterday's snow storm.

Police say a plow truck driver notified police after seeing another driver hit two vehicles and drive off in the area of Brock Avenue and Charles Street after 6 P.M. Thursday. The plow operator gave police a detailed description of the suspected vehicle which was soon located several blocks north on Brock Avenue where it hit another car.

Police stopped the driver, who was determined to be under the influence of alcohol. As officers tried to place the man under arrest, he began struggling and punched the officers, later kicking the booking sergeant.

Police say the driver, 29-year-old Luis Garcia of New Bedford, is charged with operating under the influence of liquor, leaving the scene of property damage, three counts of assault and battery on a police officer, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and warrant arrest.
