Update:  A suspect charged with murder in the fatal shooting of a Wareham man this week appeared in Wareham District Court on Friday.  70 year old John Witty of Berkley was ordered held without bail, after entering a not guilty plea.  The case was continued to March 14th for a probable cause hearing.  Witty is charged in the fatal shooting of John Williams, also 70, in his Glen Charlie Road home.

Original story:  Police have made an arrest in the shooting death of a 70-year-old man who was found slain in his Wareham home.

The Plymouth County district attorney's office announced that 70-year-old John Witty, of Berkley, is scheduled to be arraigned Friday on a murder charge in connection with the death of John Williams.

Williams was found in his home Tuesday by police performing a well-being check. Police say he had been shot multiple times.  Authorities have not disclosed a possible motive.

Neighbors described Williams as a friendly man who was an amateur pilot, ham radio operator, and motorcycle enthusiast. He also worked at the Salvation Army Thrift Store in Wareham.
